Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at femmeflorabeauty@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  • What should I do before my wax?

To bloom beautifully, prep your petals:

    • Exfoliate gently 24–48 hours prior (a soft mitt or scrub is perfect—nothing harsh).    Keep skin moisturized, but arrive with clean, product-free skin.
    • Hair length matters—let it grow to at least a grain of rice (about 2–3 weeks of growth).
    • Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds 48 hours before waxing.
    • Skip the gym and saunas beforehand—heat can make your skin more sensitive.
  • Can I wax during my period?

Absolutely! You’re welcome any time—just wear a fresh tampon or cup. That said, you may feel more sensitive around your cycle.

  • Should I take a pain reliever?

Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but taking an over-the-counter pain reliever about 30–45 minutes before your appointment can help minimize discomfort, especially if it’s your first time or you’re waxing a more sensitive area. That said, it’s completely optional — most clients find the experience very manageable without it. Avoid alcohol or caffeine beforehand, as they can make your skin more sensitive.

  • Can I come straight from work/gym?

We recommend arriving fresh—but if you’re coming in hot, we’ve got you. Our freshen-up stations are stocked and ready.

  • How Long Does My Hair Need to Be?

For best results, hair should be about the length of a grain of rice (approximately ¼ inch). If you’ve been shaving, we recommend waiting at least 2–3 weeks before your appointment. Not sure if it’s long enough? Send us a photo or text us—we’re happy to help.

  • Can I Wax After Botox or Fillers?

We recommend waiting at least 7 days after Botox and 14 days after fillers before receiving facial waxing services. The skin can be more sensitive after injectable treatments, and waiting helps reduce the risk of irritation. If you’ve recently had any cosmetic procedure, let us know before your appointment.

  • Can I Get Waxed While Pregnant?

Absolutely. Many clients continue waxing throughout their pregnancy. Hormonal changes can sometimes increase skin sensitivity, so you may notice a bit more discomfort than usual. If you’re considered high-risk or have concerns, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider first.

  • Can I Get Waxed If I’m Also Doing Laser Hair Removal?

Yes, but timing matters. Waxing removes the hair from the root, while laser treatments need the hair follicle intact to be effective. If you’re currently undergoing laser hair removal, speak with your laser provider before booking waxing services. In most cases, shaving—not waxing—is recommended between laser sessions.

  • Can I Get Waxed If I Use Retinol, Retin-A®, or Tretinoin?

For your safety, we do not perform facial waxing on skin that has recently been treated with retinol, Retin-A®, tretinoin, or similar vitamin A products. These products can make the skin more fragile and increase the risk of lifting, irritation, or injury during waxing.

We recommend discontinuing retinol-based products for at least two weeks prior to facial waxing services. If you are unable to discontinue use, tweezing may be a safer option for brow maintenance.

If you’re unsure whether a product contains retinoids, please let us know before your appointment and we’ll help determine if waxing is appropriate.

  • How Old Do You Have To Be To Get Waxed?

Minors are welcome with parent or guardian consent. Certain services may require a parent or guardian to be present. Contact us with any questions before booking.

  • What Is a Brow Lamination?

A brow lamination is a treatment that helps redirect and soften the brow hairs, creating a fuller, fluffier, and more polished appearance. Think of it as a “reset” button for unruly brows.

The treatment allows us to brush the hairs into a more desirable shape, helping sparse areas appear fuller and making daily styling easier.

    Brow lamination is ideal for:

    • Brows that grow downward or in different directions
    • Gaps or uneven areas
    • Clients who love a fuller, fluffier brow look
    • Anyone wanting to spend less time styling their brows each morning

Results typically last 6–8 weeks, though individual results may vary.

  • What Are Night Bloom Hours?

Night Bloom Hours are Femme Flora’s extended appointment times designed for guests who need a little more flexibility in their schedules.

Available on the 1st and 3rd Monday and Friday of each month, Night Bloom appointments are offered from:

    •  6:00–8:00 AM
    • 9:00–11:00 PM

Whether you’re heading to an early flight, finishing a late shift, preparing for a special event, or simply enjoy quieter appointment times, Night Bloom Hours provide the same elevated Femme Flora experience outside of traditional business hours.

Because these appointments are limited and in high demand, Night Bloom services may include slightly adjusted pricing.

  • Will Waxing Make My Hair Grow Back Thicker?

No. Waxing does not cause hair to grow back thicker, darker, or faster.

When hair is consistently removed from the follicle, many clients notice that regrowth becomes softer, finer, and more sparse over time. This is because waxing disrupts the hair growth cycle and can gradually weaken the follicle’s ability to produce strong, coarse hairs.

However, results depend on proper technique. If hairs break at the surface rather than being fully removed from the root, you may not experience the same long-term reduction in thickness or density. At Femme Flora, our Florettes are trained to prioritize proper hair removal while protecting the integrity of your skin, allowing us to achieve the smoothest possible results.

It’s important to note that hormones, genetics, certain medications, and medical conditions can all influence hair growth. While many clients experience finer, sparser regrowth with consistent waxing, individual results may vary, particularly in areas affected by hormonal hair growth.

The best results come from maintaining a consistent waxing schedule and avoiding shaving between appointments

  • What Is the Difference Between Brow Cleanup and Eyebrow Shaping?

At Femme Flora, eyebrow shaping is a customized service that considers your facial features, natural growth pattern, symmetry, and long-term brow goals. A brow cleanup focuses on maintaining an existing shape by removing unwanted hair.

Whether you’re looking for a full brow transformation or simple maintenance, your Florette will recommend the service that best fits your needs.

  • Why Choose a Boutique Waxing Salon Instead of a Chain?

As a boutique waxing salon in Lubbock, Femme Flora offers a personalized, appointment-only experience focused on privacy, consistency, and hospitality. You’ll see the same familiar faces, receive customized recommendations, and enjoy a relaxing environment designed around your comfort—not a production-line experience.

  • What should I avoid after waxing?

Your skin will be more vulnerable post-wax. For the first 24–48 hours, avoid:

    • Sweating heavily (workouts, hot yoga, etc.)
    • Soaking in tubs, pools, or hot showers
    • Tight clothing or friction-heavy fabrics
    • Touching or scratching the area
    • Tanning, chemical peels, or active skincare in the area.
  • How do I prevent ingrowns?

Hydration is key. Use a gentle exfoliant 2–3x a week and follow with a post-wax oil or serum—we retail some of our favorites in-studio. Ask your Florette what’s best for your skin type.

  • Can I shave between waxes?

We get it—but no. Shaving disrupts the hair growth cycle and makes your next wax more uncomfortable. Let it grow, and we’ll handle the rest.

  • How often should I get waxed?

Most clients rebook every 4 weeks for best results. We offer discounted pricing for consistent visits—your skin (and wallet) will thank you.

  • Can I Bring Someone With Me to My Appointment?

To protect the privacy and comfort of all clients, appointments are reserved for the client receiving services and their Florette only. We kindly ask that friends, partners, and children wait outside the treatment room. If you require assistance or accommodation, please let us know in advance and we’ll be happy to help.

  • What Is the Difference Between a Bikini Wax and a Brazilian Wax?

A bikini wax removes hair outside the panty line, while a Brazilian removes most or all hair from the intimate area. At Femme Flora, we offer several levels of intimate waxing to fit your comfort and goals.

  • Do Brazilian Waxes Hurt?

Everyone experiences discomfort differently, but most clients find the anticipation is worse than the appointment itself. Consistent waxing appointments are typically more comfortable than starting over after months of shaving.

  • What Should I Wear To My Wax Appointment?

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is ideal, especially after body or intimate waxing services. Breathable fabrics help reduce friction and irritation.

  • Why Do I Need To Tell You About My Skincare Routine?

Certain medications, skincare products, and cosmetic treatments can affect how your skin responds to waxing. To ensure the safest experience possible, please inform your Florette of any prescription medications, retinoids, chemical peels, laser treatments, or recent cosmetic procedures before your service.

  • What Is Included in a Brazilian Wax?

A Brazilian wax removes most or all hair from the intimate area, depending on your preferences. At Femme Flora, we offer several levels of intimate waxing, from basic bikini maintenance to completely smooth results.

During your consultation, your Florette will help determine which service is the best fit for your goals and comfort level.

  • What’s the Difference Between a Traditional Lash Lift and a Korean Lash Lift?

Both services lift and curl your natural lashes, but the technique and overall result are different.

    Traditional Lash Lift

Uses a chemical perming process to reshape the lashes.

Creates a noticeable curl or dramatic lift.

Results can vary depending on lash health and growth patterns.

Often focuses on achieving the biggest curl possible.

    Korean Lash Lift

Uses a gentler, health-focused approach designed to prioritize lash integrity.

Focuses on precision placement and lash conditioning throughout the service.

Creates a softer, more elegant lift from the base of the lash rather than a dramatic curl.

Ideal for clients seeking a polished, natural-looking result.

Can often be performed more frequently than traditional lash lifts, depending on lash health.

At Femme Flora, we offer the Aura Monaco Korean Lash Lift, chosen for its emphasis on lash health, conditioning, and beautifully lifted results without sacrificing the integrity of your natural lashes.

  • What Body Areas Can Be Waxed?

Femme Flora offers facial, brow, body, and intimate waxing services. Popular body waxing services include underarms, arms, legs, chest, back, and intimate waxing.

Not sure what service to book? Reach out and we’ll help guide you.

  • Can I get waxed if I have a sunburn?

No. Sunburned skin is already compromised and waxing may cause further irritation or injury. Please wait until the skin has fully healed before scheduling.
